- 0.5 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 eggs

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 12-cup muffin pan with cupcake liners.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
- Add the dry ingredients in 2 additions, alternating with the milk, and mix just until combined.
- Divide the batter evenly among the cupcake liners, filling each about two-thirds full.
- Bake until the tops spring back lightly and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer the cupcakes to a wire rack to cool completely before frosting or serving.
